Kromski Harp Loom

Rigid heddle looms are great for beginners to weaving and experienced weavers who want to use up odd bits of yarn.  Nothing special is required: normal knitting yarns work well as well as the more traditional weaving yarns.
  • They are best suited to the smaller projects of scarves, cushion covers, rugs.
  • With the single post warping method they can be set up quite quickly.
  • Add on a second heddle block and with two heddles simple pattern work can be produced

Drum Carders

The Guild has two David Barnett drum carders, the newest of which was purchased in April 2015.

Care of Carders
  • Before returning the drum carder please ensure that all fibres are removed from both the licker-in and main drum.
  • Remove any fiber that has wound around the drum shafts
  • Only card clean, dry fleece - please do not use for fleece "in the grease".
  • An occasional drop of machine oil or general household oil dropped into the bearings can be beneficial if the carder is cranking hard, however, the bearings are graphite impregnated and do not usually require oiling.
  • The teeth should not be left damp or wet for extended periods.
  • The carder should not be left in direct, hot sunlight outdoors or in a window.  Expansion and dehydration can warp the drums and/or frame.
