Lace pattern to create a slip cover for a glasses case or mobile phone cover

The yarn must be your own hand spun Shetland wool.

The original challenge was for your own hand prepared, hand spun Shetland fleece.
If dyed, you would have done it yourself. It is now allowed that prepared Shetland may be used, but details of prep, whether fleece or top, and any dye details, must be included in the entry form.

The Challenge will be judged during the Skills Evaluation Day in October.
                                                                                      Wensleydale Wool
Last year a number of member helped prepare and spin some Wensleydale fleece.
We were asked by the Wensleydale Sheep Society to provide something for a display they were putting together to promote the Society.
To keep you updated:
The fleece has been spun
Part of the yarn has been dyed using synthetic dyes.
The yarn has now been woven into a sample in a plaid colour combination

TOUR DE FLEECE

This project will run throughout the year
and will focus on the many different types of
fleece from around the UK.

It will analyse their various characteristics,
and their most appropriate methods of
fibre preparation, processing and finishing.

The aim is to produce a range of various fibre
samples and completed items, highlighting the
strengths and characteristics
of each type
of fleece, together with their
 most
appropriate usage.
Devon County Show

Thank you to everyone who contributed to such a wonderful 3 days Plus Wednesday setting up. Without your fantastic contributions we would not be able to show the breadth of products which are made by our members.
Thank you to Jane Yarrow, Liz, Kent and Judy Throup for decorating the stand, which along with the contribution of all our members who demonstrated and spoke to the public about our craft led to us winning a Gold Medal for our stand. It was particularly noted by the judges, the interaction of the demonstrators with the public.
