New Spinner

Sarah joined the Guild in January 2017 and (with the help of various Guild members who were only too keen to encourage a new addiction!) she began learning to spin.  To show just how quickly it is possible to produce something useable, this is Sarah's very first yarn:
Sarah's second spinning project was with multi-coloured fibre and was knitted up into a warm and squishy hat ... then it was on to some dyed Gotland fibre that she won in February's raffle:
And finally, Sarah is taking part in the Guild's project to illustrate the enormous variety of yarns that can be spun from the same multi-coloured top.  Each Guild member was given 100g of John Arbon's Devonia blend (50% Exmoor Blueface, 30% Devon Bluefaced Leicester, 20% Devon Wensleydale and with a custom addition of silk) - the brief was then simply to spin and use it in any way they chose.  The resulting items will be exhibited at our Guild's biennial exhibition at Buckfast Abbey in August (see the Programme web page) but here is a sneak preview of Sarah's work:
